Terms of Service
Effective 21 July 2026
These terms cover your use of the Daily Bard app. By downloading or using the app, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
The app
Daily Bard is an iPhone and iPad app made by Codemad that presents a daily page of Shakespeare - an engraved plate, the original passage, and a plain-English reading - along with a Commonplace Book, a Catalogue, and margin notes.
Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Daily Bard on Apple devices you own or control, in line with the App Store's standard licensed-application terms. Apple's standard End User License Agreement applies to your use of the app and is available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. Where those terms and these differ for the app itself, Apple's EULA governs; these terms add detail about the Full Edition and our content.
The Full Edition
Daily Bard is free to download and includes a page each day. The Full Edition is an optional one-time purchase of US$11.99 (or the equivalent in your local currency, set by the App Store). It unlocks the Commonplace Book, the full Catalogue, and margin notes, and it stays unlocked for as long as you own it.
The Full Edition is not a subscription. There is no recurring charge and nothing to cancel. It is a single purchase, tied to your Apple ID, and can be restored on your devices at no extra cost.
Payment, restore, and refunds
All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and billed to your Apple ID. We do not receive or store your payment-card details. You can restore a previous purchase from within the app.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. If you would like a refund, request one through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, subject to Apple's refund policy.
The texts and the artwork
The works of William Shakespeare are in the public domain. We verify each passage against the Folger Shakespeare edition. The plain-English readings, the engraved plates, the design, and the app itself are original works owned by Codemad and are provided for your personal, non-commercial use. Please do not redistribute, resell, or use the app's readings or artwork commercially without our written permission.
Acceptable use
Please do not attempt to reverse-engineer, tamper with, or circumvent the app's purchase protection, and do not use the app in any way that breaks the law or infringes others' rights.
Disclaimers
Daily Bard is provided “as is”. The plain-English readings are interpretations offered to aid understanding and enjoyment; they are not scholarly, legal, or professional advice. We do our best to keep the app accurate and available, but we do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Codemad will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data, arising from your use of Daily Bard. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the app, or US$50, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory consumer rights.
Changes
We may update these terms as the app evolves. When we do, we will update the date above and post the new version here. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
